1. A Reflective Stream in a Mysterious Early Winter Forest (December 3, 2024). In this Workshop, David will create a demonstration painting of a mysterious forest scene with a reflective blue stream protected by a silhouette of conifers trying to conceal the distant sunlight. David will demonstrate new techniques for portraying light, deep, reflective color, and the screen of sunlight in the distance.
2. A Sparkling Sunlit Road on a Snowy Winter Hillside (December 10, 2024). David will demonstrate how to create the first tracks cut through a heavy snow in a frosty sunlit winter forest. David will explore different techniques and palettes to create the shadows and gleam of wintry landscape.
3. Finding the Light in a Winter Evening (December 17, 2024). In this Workshop, David will paint a demonstration painting highlighting the mysterious, welcoming, early evening light found in a dark wintry forest. He will create the soft reflective blue of the snow under a deep blue sky.

1. Shoreline on the River (June 4, 2024). David will demonstrate exciting and experimental techniques to create a sense of movement and play in the textures of shoreline, river and clouds and sky and their reflections. David will explore – in a step-by-step process – different aspects of color theory, brush techniques, and composition for this unique landscape demonstration.2. A Translucent Wave at the Beach (June 11, 2024). It’s almost Summer! We’ll dive into creating powerful, translucent, tumultuous waves and the suggestions of a rocky shore. David will demonstrate the power of creating graphic abstract shapes using a palette of sun-kissed colors to paint interesting, animated detail and the complexity of water. He will focus on techniques for creating foreshortening and plasticity of the waves at the shore.
3. An Entangled Forest Abstraction (June 18, 2024). David will paint a demonstration painting of an abstracted field of filtered, unified light and trees evoking the sensation of an Entangled Forest Abstraction. David’s oil painting will demonstrate how to increase the feeling of density and fullness in foliage using a layered photo as a starting point. 1. Meditative Lake at Frederic Church’s Home at Olana in New York (May 14, 2024). David’s inspiration photograph was taken of the beautiful lake at the tranquil setting at Olana, Hudson River painter Frederic Church’s home in upstate New York. Church designed this stunning landscape over many years to incorporate the timeless aesthetic of the romantic landscape tradition found in 17th century paintings by landscape greats Claude and Poussin and in the famous parks designed created by Frederick Law Olmstead, including Central Park and Boston Commons. In David’s painting demonstration, he will experiment with this historic motif and offer various techniques to create different types of foliage and deep water.
2. A Thicket of Flowering Trees in Spring (May 21, 2024). In this Workshop David continues to explore of the different exciting aspects of the four seasons. He will paint a demonstration painting which creates the sensation of a springtime effusion of blossoms living in a canopy over a dense natural forest thicket alongside a shadowed road. Here is bright spring with a mysterious understory.
3. Multi-Layered Shoreline Landscape (May 28, 2024). David will demonstrate how to use overlapping landscape images to create a unified image of a broad panorama over a serene expanse of water. His demonstration painting will use a heightened color palette and different painting techniques to create motion, texture and depth in a semi-abstracted landscape.

These are the topics for the Three March Workshops:- Wave Patterns and Rocks in Sunlight (March 12, 2024). In this landscape painting workshop, David will present historic precedents and compositions that explore different approaches to capturing wave patterns and rocks in sunlight. He first considers a brief survey of historic paintings and ideas of design as defined in late 18th and 19th century from Claude, Constable, and Ruskin and Capability Brown. David then investigates different design possibilities to recompose the composition of the Garden and Stream. David will then demonstrate new and experimental techniques to create a sense of movement and play in the textures of garden and stream elements. - A Spray of Spring Wildflowers at a Meadow’s Edge (March 26, 2024). In this workshop, David will explore how to create an intricate interplay of the close-up elements of a spray of spring wildflowers crowding together in sunlight on the fringes of wild farmland meadows. He examines and explores the techniques used by artists through time who have created landscapes that carry you through an intimate foreground into a distant landscape. David will demonstrate different techniques to create a vibrant, weaving mixture of textures and space which evoke the natural exuberance of a patch of wildflowers – a harbinger of Spring.

1. Snow and Light in a Tangle of Winter Trees (February 6, 2024). In this landscape painting workshop, David will explore historic precedents and compositions and different color palettes for painting the silhouette of winter trees in the snow against the solar flare. He will focus on techniques for creating dazzling sunlight and drifts of snow, with the sunlit halo of diffused light from the surrounding winter forest. David’s painting demonstration will incorporate these palettes for snow and light and techniques to create different ways to paint interesting detail and the complexity of winter scenes.
2. Wind Born Painting Demonstration (February 13, 2024). In this workshop, David explores the dance of golden leaves in a sunlit fall from the autumn trees. Glittering Light and Reflections on a Sunlit Woodland Pond. In this Workshop David will demonstrate the complexity of painting a sunlit woodland pond. He will explore how painters throughout time have approached painting the fascinating elements of still and moving water and their glittering reflections. David will show different compositions and will demonstrate how colors, reflections and values change depending upon their relation to the water surface and the sky. David will demonstrate different palette choices and how the juxtaposition of warm and cool and complementary colors can alter the sunlit dimensions of the painting.
