On Sunday, February 24 at 3:00 pm, The Allen and Helen Hermes Arts Series at the Mark Twain Library will host a special talk with acclaimed artist and teacher David Dunlop.  

In his stimulating illustrated talk, Mr. Dunlop shows how our greatest innovations have derived from visualizing: how Galileo, Newton, Edison, Einstein and others relied upon image making to discover fresh insights into how the world works. He demonstrates how to use forms of visualization to expand your understanding of complex problems and solve them and reveals how language keeps us tied to constrained categorical thinking—how the ambiguity provided in picturing allows for categories of naming, math, art, literature and science to be transcended, expanded and synthesized.

David Dunlop is a modern-day old master whose luminous landscapes draw from both Renaissance techniques and contemporary science.  His paintings have been shown internationally and are held in the collections of major corporations including Aetna Insurance, Citibank, Colgate Palmolive, Delta Airlines, GE Capital Corporation, IBM, Mobil and others. Mr. Dunlop is the engaging host and writer of the Emmy and Cine Golden Eagle award winning two season national PBS television series, “ “, for which he won an Emmy and a CINE Golden Eagle Award in 2009. He has been a painting teacher at Silvermine Art Guild for many years and has a devoted following around the world.  He teaches workshops on many varied topics throughout the world as well.
