David Dunlop’s Tuesdays in May, 2026 Landscape Painting Workshops (May 12, 19 & 26, 2026 at 11:00am ET)

Each Workshop includes an examination of historic and contemporary paintings, a discussion of different composition possibilities and palette choices, a live oil painting demonstration using varied techniques, and access to the recorded Workshop.

Here are the three different topics for May:

1.    A Tranquil Pond in a Botanical Garden. This Workshop is inspired by a photograph that David took of a tranquil pond in the Edinburgh Botanical Garden. He will demonstrate how to paint cloud reflections on mirrored water and create depth and atmosphere in dense foliage.

2.   Spring Blossoms.  This Workshop is inspired by photograph of a profusion of  spring blossoms billowing over a country road. David will demonstrate how to compose and capture soft floral forms and to balance light and color to suggest the boisterous renewal of Spring.

3.   Breaking Light in Waves.  Working from a photograph of ocean waves curling and breaking along a sunlit shore. David will demonstrate how to capture the movement of water, the shifting patterns of light, and the subtle refraction within translucent waves to evoke clarity, energy, and atmosphere.
