Each 2-2.5 Workshop includes an examination of historic and contemporary paintings, a discussion of different composition possibilities and palette choices, a live oil painting demonstration using varied techniques, and the opportunity for a personal painting critique with David, and access to the recorded Workshop.   These are the three different topics for our June Workshops:

1. Atmospheric Spring Creek with Ancient River Trees.  David will explore how to capture the character of a winding river scene while creating a sense of depth, movement, light, and atmosphere.
2. Dandelion Meadow.  David will demonstrate how to simplify and organize masses of wildflowers, balance detail with suggestion, and use color, light, and brushwork to create a vibrant sense of atmosphere and depth.
3. Big Skies, Open Road.  This Workshop is inspired by a contemporary highway scene beneath sweeping blue skies filled with towering clouds. David will illustrate how to use perspective, scale, and atmospheric effects to create a powerful sense of distance and movement while capturing the drama of light across the landscape.
